Endings that turn a thing or a description into an action
Lesson 14 of 17 Year 5
Task 1 gives the letter of the right option as printed on the sheet. Task 2 lists the mistakes in the order they appear, with the correction. Task 3 and 4 answers are models, not the only acceptable wording: any answer that uses the rule the lesson taught should be credited.

Model answers
The new lights will beautify the old café: beauty swaps its y for i before -ify.
The chef will sharpen the knives. Not every describing word takes -en: for big we use enlarge instead.
We will advertise the reopening. It is -ise because advertise is one of the words that never takes -ize, not even in American spelling.
4 · Help Polpetta
Changing the y to i was right, but after the i comes -fy, not -fie, so it is beautify. Another one: glory becomes glorify, the y turns to i and then -fy goes on.
